AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO POST SIGNS ON HIGHWAYS UNDER ITS JURISDICTION THAT CLEARLY INDICATE TO MOTORISTS WHEN THEY ARE ENTERING A DRY COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Where the county line of a county that has not voted to come out from under the dry laws crosses the right-of-way of a highway under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Department of Transportation, the department shall post a sign that clearly indicates to motorists entering such county that alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the county.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1999.
